* The meeting was brought to order by Peggy with the Welcome and purpose of our meeting and the formation of the Society. The reading of the last meeting minutes and the treasurer's report was completed.
* 6 new members in the Society since our last meeting
* By-Laws were read and revised to state a more exact locale for membership qualifications. The next meeting time and place location decision was changed from the Program-Publicity-Newsletter officer's direction, to the presiding officer's of the previous meeting. The changes were approved unanimously.
* Election of officers for the first year include:
President: Peggy P
Vice President: Cheryl L
Secretary-Treasurer-Surname chairperson: Helene B
Program-Publicity-Newsletter editor: Mark P
* Projects that were discussed and decided upon were:
Family Pioneer Certificates in 2 categories - 150 and 100 years. Chairperson: Richard R
Pioneer Member Certificates. Chairperson: Richard R
* Internet web page design and content including queries that we will also be published in our quarterly newsletter. Chairperson: Mark P
* Indexing and digitizing databases from The Dodgeville Chronicle. Chairperson: to be decided in January
* Fund raising ideas included:
Gift Membership Certificates, members providing research for a fee, and having a beginner workshop.
* John H spoke about Non-Profit status, quoting a price of $150 minimum to gain this status. Will also look into joining into the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society and becoming a chapter. Cheryl L told us that we had until May 1998 to get involved with this for next term.
* Next meeting will be Wednesday, January 21, 1998 at 7:00 p.m.
