January 1998 Meeting Minutes
Present: Helene
Bethke, Mark Perry, Peggy Perry, Richard Rohowetz, Neil Giffey
* It was a very snowy evening. Notice of the meeting appeared in the Mineral
Point, Spring Green, and Boscobel papers.
* The meeting was brought to order and the Secretary's and Treasurer's reports
accepted.
* 2 new members since our last meeting
* Richard had many certificate papers and graphics. A nice foil lettering for
the Sesquicentennial certificate with a photo of Governor Henry Dodge in the
background. Discussion of naming the 100 year certificate ensued with a preference
of "Old Settlers" and not "Century" since "Century"
is used in naming the 100 year farms. More certificate sotkc and papers to be
presented at the next meeting. Price ranges were discussed of $15 - Sesquicentennial,
$10 - Old Settlers. Some discussion on lineage and sources of proof required
on the certificates.
* Our ICGS Internet page had debuted the previous Monday. Our annual fee of
$25 for unlimited space with a domain name of Friendsnfamily.net. Our address
is: http://www.friendsnfamily.net/wiiowagensoc/index.html We have viewed the
Welcome page and the 5 divisions: Meeting information, Membership information,
Queries we have received, Other Wisconsin Genealogical Societies, and Society
Bylaws. We'll scan each certificate and application forms to the site, once
all the details have been workd out on wording and pricing.
* Dodgeville Chronicle indexing and WSGS affiliation was delayed until the February
meeting, as Cheryl L was not present.
* A video presentation was viewed briefly. This was presented by Jeff Trickle
of Freeze Frame Photography in Dodgeville. The topic, Restoration and Preservation
of old photographs, is a possible seminar subject. A fall seminar was discussed.
* A motion was made by Mark, 2nd by Peggy, passed unanimously to issue a resolution
recommending the passage of State Assembly Bill LRB4466 and State Senate bill
SB393, revision of chapter 69; "The Vital Records Bill" allowing the
photocopy of pre-1907 vital records.
