July 1998 Meeting Minutes
Present: Mark Perry, Peggy Perry, Helene Bethke, Neil Giffey, Kathy Stoltz, Cheryl Schmidt
* We had the meeting around a campfire at the Mark and Peggy's home.
* Amended last Secretary's report:
Library should be specifically stated as Wisconsin Room at UW Platteville
Arena resident's name spelled incorrectly
Motioned by Neil, 2nd by Mark to accept Secretary's report with these 2 changes
* Treasurer's report: Motioned by Neil, seconded by Mark to accept the report as is
* Seminar:
Decided to go with the 2 census talks that Jack Brissee has for our seminar, October 3., Motion by Helene, 2nd
by Cheryl S.
* Kathy will price the box lunch and locations for the seminar. We expect about 30 people.
* We thought about the fee to pay Jeff $30-40. Motion by Mark, 2nd by Peggy.
* We'll ask Origins & Creative Memories to vend at the Seminar. Motion by Peggy, 2nd by Neil.
* No charge for the vendor tables, motion by Peggy, 2nd by Neil.
* Our goal is to clear $150 for our non-profit tax status.
* Research Fees:
Decided upon $5 for a lookup (20 minutes or less of the researchers time) includes copies & postage. This is
paid with the request and $15 per hour for a researchers time. We will not purchase actual records, but rather
include the rates and pertinent data (vol and page #, etc) in with our findings report. We'll ask for a retainer
of 1 hours worth of research and charge for copies & postage additionally.
* Montfort Obit booklet:
We will do the printing of this ourselves vs. having a printer do it for us. The cost savings will be dramatic;
Margins at top and bottom should be made a bit larger; Do add page numbers; Do add grid lines - easier to read;
Make font different for header and footer than the regular text - let it stand out a bit; Additional data will
be noted with an * in the actual data field - rather than the name column as previously discussed. This looks better
and gives the reader the information needed to know which data was added outside of the actual obituary. Page/Column
listing should show numbers as 09 vs 9 for standardization throughout the booklet.
