ICGS Meeting Minutes 4-15-1999 meeting date
Present: Mark Perry, Peggy Perry, Eleanor Nelson, Cheryl Schmidt, Kathy Stoltz
March meeting minutes read. Motion to approve by Mark, 2nd by Eleanor
Treasurer report read. Motion to approve by Cheryl, 2nd by Eleanor
Library project - 12 new boxes with over 900 items total in the library at this time. Peggy is still hoping to
get all the cataloging done before the end of May.
Cemetery project - Kathy and Cheryl are working on indexing the Arena cemeteries now that the weather is nice again.
It was also suggested that cemetery contact information be included within the cemetery pages in the publication,
whenever possible. Motion made by Mark, 2nd by Peggy.
Probate indexing project - Cheryl and Kathy haven't done much with this. They have determined that when they have
the time available to work on projects - the weather will dictate which one they work on. Nice weather will find
them in the cemetery, not so nice weather will find them at the Courthouse.
Website useage - slightly lower numbers than last month. This is probably due to the Spring weather that's upon
us now.
WSGS Leadership seminar - Peggy, Mark, and Cheryl will be attending this seminar June 5 in Wisconsin Dells. Helene
needs to be contacted regarding her availablity to attend.
Open House - will try to schedule this for the end of May - but want to make sure that we have a good number of
our library collection on hand at the Dodgeville Public Library before this is held. Don't want to get too far
into Summer - or attendance is projected to be low.
The discussion of the need for a binding machine was held. We were borrowing the binding machine from the hospital
- but this has become difficult at times. Peggy has seen one for $150 at Staples and would like to see us purchase
one for ourselves. Helene and Peggy have had some discussion regarding this issue - Helene has heard that the plastic
cased models (which the one at Staples is) do not always punch correctly. Due to the price of the metal cased ones
(in excess of $500 at some places), it was decided we should buy the plastic cased model for $150. Motion made
by Cheryl, 2nd by Kathy to approve this purchase.
Kathy and Cheryl came dressed in a new fashion trend to the meeting tonight - embroidered interlochen polo shirts
with a logo that Kathy designed for ICGS. The logo consists of a green olive tree with white lettering spelling
out Iowa County Genealogical Society in cursive handwriting. We can order these shirts from Kathy through her shop,
Sweet Daisy Gifts, in Mount Horeb. Sizes available are: S, M, L, XL at a cost of $20 each and XXL, and XXXL sizes
for a cost of $21. Color options include: white, red, royal, and forest. Checks should be made out to ICGS and
the society will order the shirts from Kathy directly. She expects about 7-10 days turnaround time. Kathy has a
sampler catalog of other merchandise that we can order to be customized as well. Some of these things should be
considered for the local fairs and events this summer. Kathy is expecting a larger, more expanded catalog soon
- she will provide us a copy when she receives it.
Peggy asked that we all check with our local neighborhoods for fairs and events that ICGS may be able to participate
in this summer, including parades.
