October 21, 1999 meeting was held at ICGS member's Eunice McCredie's home in Avoca, WI
Attending: Eunice McCredie, Helene Bethke, Janet Perkins, Peggy Perry, Mark Perry, Cheryl Schmidt, Mr & Mrs
Philip Schwabe
Cemetery Indexing
Cheryl says the Hyde Cemetery is almost done.
Peggy had a mock up booklet. There will be an alphabetical and numerical index. A map of each cemetery will
have a number assigned to each stone. Larger cemeteries will be sectioned into smaller maps. A photo of each sign/gate
to the cemetery, some history such as first/last burial, church affliation, nationality and sextons address or
contact person and directions to find cemetery will be included.
Probate Indexing & Library Indexing are in a holding pattern.
Web Site hosts about 900 sessions a month. 44% enter on the 'front door' or the main index page. Of the pages that
are hit; 25% see the front page, 12% the surname page, 8% the databases and 7% the queries.
We would like any suggestions for what to include in a membership packet that all members would receive. Planning
on sending these out the first of next year.
Cornish Fest
Peggy had an ICGS booth at Mineral Points Cornish Fest. 6 new members joined and lots of brochures were handed
out.
Seminar
We can reserve the Dodgeville High School Cafeteria for our seminar on April 15. A preservation workshop or a Evertons
workshop was discussed. Helene will check into pricing a catered meal.
Officer Nominations were made:
President - Peggy Perry
Vice President - Cheryl Schmidt
Treasury/Secretary - Helene Bethke
Publicity - Mark Perry
Philip brought along a Pulaski Church History book that was first published in 1987. The Story of the People and
Preachers of the Pulaski Church 1862-1987 is 112 pages thick and very interesting.
Next meeting to be held on November 18 at 7:00 pm., Dodgeville City Hall.
