ICGS June 2000 Meeting Summary
The meeting was held at member Eunice McCredie's home along the muddy and very high Avoca Lake.

Dodgeville Public Library is celebrating their 100th anniversary in October during Heritage Days. Heritage Days
is sponsored by the Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce. We would like to have some genealogy programs during Heritage
Days, introducing our library collection to the area patrons.
ICGS will join the Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce ($50 annual fee). Motion by Cheryl, 2nd by Peggy.
Helene found a used microforms printer for $40.00 (worth much more) and ICGS has purchased it. It's about the size
of a copy machine. Mark hauled it from Madison to Dodgeville in his trailer.
Peggy wrote a "how-to" guide for walking cemeteries and recording the information from the stones. It
also explains how to graph the location of the headstones in a map.
Probate records: discussion of how to scan and index the probate records we own. On another note, Iowa County prints
out probate records in the courthouse for free.
Farmer's Appreciation Day is the 2nd Sunday in July. We have an indoor booth and our brochure supply looks fine.
Cornish Fest Genealogy Seminar is the last Friday of September in Mineral Point. A 1/4 page ad costs $10.00. Motion
to place the ad by Helene and 2nd by Cheryl.
Peggy has software now that we could print tote-bags or t-shirts. Should we have a logo contest?
We will have a vote on our by-law changes next month. We need a 2/3 majority to pass. We hope to be splitting the
secretary/treasurer position into 2 different offices.
Duties for all officers will be reviewed soon.
We discussed holding the meetings on a different evening next year to allow at least one other member to attend who can not make the current night.
