March 2001 Meeting Summary:
Date: March 21, 2001
Place: Dodgeville City Hall
Present: Peggy Perry; Mark Perry; Kathy Stoltz; Cheryl Schmidt
Brochure: Kathy presented a draft of a new brochure for this year. Bids from 2 different printers. We went
with the 300, 2 sided, folded, printer for $37.85 from Advantage Printing in Dodgeville, and they deliver. A couple
of revisions were discussed. The colors were discussed and we went with a blue like the membership books.
Membership booklets. Cost less to print 120 was $46.00 instead of $50.00. The mailing of the booklets was
discussed. Decided to mail them with the next newsletter. Found an error in sequence of pages. Peggy was going
to straighten the matter out.
Treasurer's Report: From February 1st to the 28th, we have more net worth than we did last year for this
same month. The growth was mostly due to memberships and research fees. Motion to approve by Cheryl, 2nd by Kathy.
Secretary's Report: Clarify that no birthday cards will be sent by the Sunshine Committee. Approved by concensus.
Cemetery Project: No news.
Probate Records: The ones owned by the Society - Peggy handed out a copy of the indexing form to be used.
A copy of the record will be made for indexing and one on preservation paper for the library. Discussions on how
they'll be put in the library and what supplies are needed. Peggy showed differet products available. The cost
was discussed. Peggy is going to present the plan to Origins and see what they can come up with for cost. Societys
get a 10% discount from them. She will also contact Light Impressions to see what the cost is there as well once
we have all the copying done and # of pages determined.
Moscow Book: Still the same. One person left but the due date isn't until June.
Sunshine Committee: Had been decided that we needed someone to send cards for deaths in family and illnesses
to members. No birthdays (if we did, we'd average 10 cards a month for birthdays!). The person needs to have e-mail
so that Peggy can contact them. Kathy said she'd be willing to be the Sunshine person.
Printer: The group discussed buying a printer for Kathy to use to do the newsletters. Mark made the motion
for $100.00 to be spent on a new printer for Kathy. Cheryl seconded. Passed.
Family Reunion Plan: ICGS was approached by a gentleman to have help with his Family Reunion. The Society
would receive funds for its help. No further contact. Heard he had also contacted the Iowa County Historical Society
and we suggested to him that a split of responsibilities be made between the 2 societies so we don't overlap efforts
for him. Have not had any further communication since.
FGS Delegate: September 13-16 is the conference in Davenport IA. Peggy and Mark will be going for the full
4 days. Cheryl and Kathy discussed going for one.
Cornish Gathering in Mineral Point: Sept. 27-30, 2001
Need the new brochures for these seminars. October is the WSGS seminar in Madison and discussed area parades.
Program on "Correspondence and Queries" by Cheryl Schmidt
Next meeting: April 18, at City Hall. Peggy motion to adjourn at 8:55p.m.
