May 2001 Meeting Summary
May 16, 2001 7:00 p.m.
Mineral Spirits Saloon, Mineral Point, WI
Peggy Perry, Mark Perry, Cheryl Schmidt and Kathy Stoltz present.
The Shake Rag Alley Restaraunt where we were going to meet was closed, so we headed downtown and finally found
one open, the Mineral Spirits Saloon. We all read the history of the place (it has two caves in the back that were
once miner's homes hence the name "badger" state. And then we ordered our dinner. (Who said that meetings
have to be boring?)
Secretary's Report. Both of the previous months minutes were available. The March minutes changes: it's Advantage
Printers from Dodgeville that are doing the brochures. They will just deliver to Mt. Horeb. On the Probate records
there will be 2 copies made, not a copy. No disrespect to the gentleman that asked us for help at his family reunion.
He just found
help from the Historical Society. The Federation of Genealogical Societies FGS is a four day seminar in September.
Kathy approved the minutes contingent on the changes. Peggy seconded. Then we went to the April minutes. Approved
by Kathy/Peggy.
Supper Break. The Alfredo, one of the specials for the night was good. I had the "Garbage Salad" which
was delicious. And the Perrys had the chicken pot pie special. The place did wonderful food.
Discussed the October 21st meeting which was planned for the Cave of the Mounds. The Cave isn't open late in the
evening. Kathy is going to call and do some more research.
Treasurer's Report. A miscellaneous correction was listed. The person sent $15.00 which is the family membership
so we will be refunding the $5.00. The Post office box rent was paid. Treasurer's report approved, motion by Kathy,
seconded by Cheryl.
Library. Peggy is through all of our books. Just waiting for the librarian to get our room ready. Peggy was going
to take a vacation day to go help.
Cemetery Project: Should be gearing up now that the weathers nice. Otter Creek check is almost done.
Moscow Book. The Moscow Book is indexed and ready to go to print. And all done before the June deadline. Thanks
to the members who did the indexing.
Gene-A-Rama. Is June 25 in Appleton. We are donating a ICGS T-shirt for a door prize. Having some of our brochures
available.
WSGS Seminar. Can be held September 29 or October 7. ICGS is submitting its vote for October 7.
Brochures are on order and ready for parades.
