August 2002 Meeting Minutes:

August 21, 2002
Arndtscape, Eileen Arndt's farm
Stud Party

Present: Mark and Peggy Perry, Eileen Arndt, Dawn Phelan, Kathy Stoltz and Cheryl Schmidt

Secretary's Report-The conference mentioned was the National Geneallogical Socienty not the FGS (Federal). Please note that Dawn did not want the part about initials, DIP, on the internet notes. The internet newsletter will be on a hidden page not a secure page and the email was not from Iowa but from the Iowa County mailing list. Dawn made motion to accept with the corrections, Kathy seconded.

Treasurer's Report-The same as last month because Kathy did not submit her receipts for the newsletter costs.

September's meeting will be one week later, 9/25, at Tower Hill State Park, fire and s'mores, because of Dawn's vacation, counting grizzlys out west. We changed the meeting because she likes to see the bats at Tower Hill. Dawn is an animal lover.

Peggy handed the Avoca Cemetery listings over to Cheryl and Kathy to do the plotting of the cemetery. Cheryl and Kathy have relatives there.

Break to go out and see the horses before too dark. Kathy wanted to take some pictures. The baby, filly, was born July 14th. She was fun to watch, running with her mother.

Cemetery project-Eilleen hands hers in pretty regular. Peggy is working on the Muscoda listings. Discussion held on the cemetery books. Should we print up several at a time or do as now, print them as needed.

Cornish Fest, Mineral Point. Peggy is a guest speaker. It's the Cornish Genealogical Seminar.

Dawn panicking. She's leaving on vacation, newsletter is due out in September, she has no game as of yet, she has poison ivy from doing her cemetery plotting and she's getting a crown. Dawn's a strong, well-organized person. We know she can do it!

The prize for the game will be a subscription to Ancestry. Tina Dean won the last prize which were Genealogy forms.

Online digital archives-Great site for Norwegian ancestry.

Probate records-We may be getting some more.

Discussion on the Moscow Book.
Library-We're getting more goodies. Peggy has a list that she checks so that we don't duplicate our materials.

Next meeting we will be punching newsletters and such to file for the library.

Discussion on the FAQ-NIL (now I'm lost) from Kathy.

Resource Manual-We sent our letters and now Connie is sorting the info out and compiling.

Official Vote on the Electronic Newsletters-10 to 1. None of the board members voted. Someone's comment was they hoped it is as good as print.
