ICGS January 2002 Meeting Summary
January 16, 2002 - Dodgeville City Hall
Present: Peggy Perry, Dawn Phelan (our new VP), Mark Perry, Kathy Stoltz, and Cheryl Schmidt
Secretary Report: Dawn motion to approve as read. 2nd Cheryl.
Treasurer's Report: No change. Dawn motion to approve; 2nd Kathy.
The Cemetery project, Moscow book, Probate records, Library are all the same and on hold. The holidays don't ya
know.
One of our new projects, the Funeral Cards-Dawn was the only one that got her homework done in the 2 months time.
(She's a very good VP).
Dawn presented a new idea for the newsletter. She's going to take care of this project and supply the material.
Games of Crosswords, find words, whatever. Discussion on if we give prizes and what they might be. Kathy 2nd the
motion. (Told you she was good)
Discussed pictures in the newsletter. Old time pictures. A couple of ideas discussed.
Discussed member's contact with the society. Some of the letters should be dealt with by the whole board, not just
one member. Could be done through e-mail or wait until the next month's meeting.
The renewal notice to be put in the September newsletter. We have too many people feeling they will get left out
of the membership when doesn't get in until December newsletter. Motion by Dawn; 2nd Kathy.
Farm Progress Days-Richland County. July 9-11. Peggy is going to find out more information, like table cost, etc.
FGS Membership-$45.00 year. Discussed the perks of this membership. Peggy motion; Dawn 2nd.
Resource Manual Project-Discussed who to include, what. Platteville website searches, Mineral Point room, churches,
Villages and Township halls, Historical Societies, courthouse, libraries, VFWs, American Legions, Lions, Military
groups. We will work on the letter to be sent to these organizations next month.
New Project was mentioned. We were going to hurry and get this one done quick. There are pictures at the Sandbar
Sports Arena of all the old local one-room schoolhouses and the old high school classes. We were going to scan
them and make a book.
Dawn motion to adjourn. Kathy 2nd.
Time was spent on a special, closed session meeting.
