ICGS May 2002 Meeting Summary
May 22, 2002 - Arena VFW Hall, Arena WI
Present: Dawn Phelan, Peggy Perry, Mark Perry, Kathy Stoltz, Cheryl Schmidt and Sharon Stoltz
Secretary's Report: Several mistakes. It's Connie DeMuth, not DeMunth. Sorry Connie. On the Membership book, we
took out the library offerings to thin the book. Motion by Dawn to approve with the corrections, Kathy seconded
it.
Treasurer's Report: Comparing April of 2001 and 2002. Some differences such as the newsletter is done differently
now. Motion by Kathy to approve, Dawn seconded.
Cemetery Project: Ebenezer in Mifflin and Blabaum in Highland have been done.
Probate Records: Dawn has 2 left. Cheryl handed in the last of her and Kathy's. If you can't tell, there was a
slight race going on.
Library: The library has new acquisitions. We have Volume 1 Territorial Papers (we already had volume 2). Volume
1 has pre-census names. We acquired new magazines too from the NGS Conference, Mark and Peggy attended.
FAQ Webpages- (if you don't know, don't feel bad. One of us finally asked again, what is FAQ? Frequently Asked
Questions [so then we got into a whole discussion of abbreviations used, LOL, etc.]). Peggy said that we have a
person who would like to do a section on census holdings. We said, thank you.
Resource Manual-One of our members from MI has been compiling library offerings of Iowa County from Internet catalogs.
Milwaukee, Chicago, Platteville libraries, 275 pages. Discussion.
Funeral Cards-Dawn has been collecting. The rest haven't even contacted their people yet. Yes, another race going
on.
The membership books will be ready to go out with the June newsletter. Covers being done by Inkwell.
We then had an Internet Demonstration on how we would do our newsletters online. It looks like I may be able to
figure it out. That's good. I'm computer illiterate. We will be doing a survey on if we should do our newsletter
via webpage or stay paper/mail.
Peggy reminded us that she will not be coming back as president next year. She would like to take some time to
finish up some of the many projects she has going. We have had no leads on a webpage person or a correspondence
person.
