Thank you, Kenneth Benoy (Jan 2007) BLAMEY: I am looking for great grandfather Joseph BLAMEY who may have been in the Dodgeville, WI area around 1860's approximately. He was born approximately 1844 in Cornwall. He married my great grandmother Lavina PAULL in Ishpeming. Cannot locate in Cornwall. His father is listed as John BLAMEY. Any records of BLAMEY living in this area? Jan Neuman (Jun 2007) DODGE: Looking for the family of Elisha DODGE. Understand they may be from the Iowa County area. There is an Elisha in the census of 1850, 1860 and 1880 but he was born in1881. Maybe his father is an Elisha also. Looks as though there is an Elisha in1880 at age 30. Could be his father? Our Elisha died in 1956. Thank you. Linda Butzler (Jun 2007) DODGE: I wondered if Elisha DODGE that we have in our family is related to the DODGE lineage from Ridgeway, WI. I noticed there was one but could not rightly fit the dates properly. Unless your Elisha, whose parents are Wilson and Rebecca DODGE (or WILSON and Sarah DODGE), is our Elisha DODGE's father. I am going to ask more questions with family members. If we could prove that he had a son named Elisha and he came to Chippewa County to live, then we are on the right track. Elisha married when he was 23 years old in 1904 in Stanley, Clark County, WI. His birth date is 1881 and died in 1956, Feb. If you can let me know anything, I would appreciate it. Thank you. Linda Butzler (Jun 2007) EAGAN: I am looking for family name EAGAN. I do not know their given names. They had a least 3 daughters: Margaret (Maggie), Mamie, Ellen (Nellie). Margaret was born in 1867. The 3 sisters moved to Hallock MN Interested in names of parents and if there is any record of Maggie's wedding to Hans HANSON in 1886. Also if the parents are buried in Wyoming Valley Cemetery. Thank you. Mary Jones (Mar 2007) HALDORSEN/HALDERSON: I am trying to find a picture of my great grandmother, Inger HALDORSEN/HALDERSON, wife of Bjorn HALDORSON. They would have probably joined a church as they did so on arrival in Kansas. I am thinking that Inger might be in a group picture. They had four children when they arrived in Dodgeville. Haldor, Siri/Sarah, Andrew & Amelia. Two children were born in Dodgeville. Ingre Olive in 1857 and Anna in 1862. They moved to Glasco, Cloud County, Kansas about 1870. I would appreciate any help that you could give to me. Ruth (Sep 2007) HARRIS: I recently came across the obit of Sherman HARRIS, b. 23 Mar 1908, Mineral Point, Iowa Co., WI, son of William A. & Edith S. PERKINS, who were lifelong residents of Mineral Point. Sherman died 29 May 1993 Darlington, Lafayette Co., WI. Sherman married Pearl Elizabeth ARTHUR on 15 May 1933. They had one son, Sherman Eugene HARRIS. In his father's obit (who died 29 May 1993-Darlington), it said his son, Sherman Eugene HARRIS resided in Monroe (only survivor) 3 grandchildren and 3 gr. grandchildren. From according to Sherman Eugene's mother's obit (d. 23 Ma4 1949), he had a maternal Aunt, Mrs. Henry HALVERSON. His mother also left two nieces and three nephews of Ridgeway (HALVERSONs ?), as well as her parents, Thomas J. & Lillie ARTHUR. Can anyone help me locate Sherman Eugene HARRIS and his family? He no longer resides in Monroe, unfortunately. Susie M. Hillison (Jan 2007) HARRIS: On the 1880 Iowa Co., WI Census, my gr.gr. grandparents, Samuel & Eliza (GROSS) HARRIS have listed in their household, Lily LLOYD, 13yrs. old b. WI, as a grandaughter. I do not have any daughter's married to anyone by the surname of LLOYD. Can anyone please shed some light onto this for me? Susie M. Hillison (Jan 2007) HOLMES: I have a postcard of Falling Springs near Mineral Point, WI addressed to Harry A HOLMES, Oacoma, Lyman Co, SD. Mineral Point, WI Aug 30th 1909 Dear Brother, Mother is no better. She was a little better and was up, but she took worse yesterday. The Dr said he don't think she will be any better. He can't do much for her, she is getting weaker all the time. Lovingly, Lizzie It is postmarked Dodgeville, WI Aug 31, 1909 If anyone has a connection, please let me know. Harry A HOLMES is my great-grandfather. His parents were George W. & Elizabeth. I think his mother may have married a Jacka. I have a picture taken at Mineral Point, WI and says Grandma Jacka's house. Ruth Schafer (Jun 2007) JORGENSON FEED: I was wondering if anyone knows about Jorgensen Feed and Seed from Avoca. Thanks, Carol Ehlinger (Mar 2007) PALMER: Looking for family on my father's side. He was Stanley John PALMER born 6/1919, had a brother George Shea, sister Lucielle, sister Coralee. Would love to locate some family from Cobb, Iowa County. Brian Palmer (Dec 2007) PAYNTER: I am looking for a reliable list of my grandmother's siblings. She was Sarah Jane PAYNTER, she had 21 siblings. She died when my mother was 2 yrs. old, so we really don't know much about who any of them were, but that there were a lot of them!! She was married to William TRELOAR. They had 8 children, my mother was the next youngest, so she really didn't know her parents very well at all. I know I'm related to a lot of people in Mineral Point and went to school with a lot of cousins without knowing it. Can you help me? Sue Nordby (Jun 2007) RAYNOR: William and Martha RAYNOR and children came to Arena, Iowa Co, about 1848/9. He was baptised in Greasley, Nottinghamshire, England on 17 April 1803 and moved to Manchester before going to the U.S. Are there any records of his land acquisitions or the typical cost of farmland then and the acreage of typical plots? What was his likely port of entry to Wisconsin and method of travel to Arena? I would appreciate any information about life and living conditions in the 1850s. Thank you. Barrie Raynor (Dec 2007) RICHARDS: I am trying to locate the RICHARDS family from Linden, WI. My ggrandfather, William RICHARDS came from the Linden area and settled in Bassett, NE. There he ran a gen merc store. His son's obituary had listed a sister from Linden by the name of Mrs. Sheldon RULE, no first name listed. There was also newspaper articles about William RICHARDS' mother visiting him from Linden, WI. His brother Thomas also moved to Atkinson, NE and took up sheep ranching. My ggrand father was born in England in 1844. My grandfather, William Jr was born in Bassett in 1888 and died 1925. His burial is in Bassett. Any info about the family in Iowa county would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Virgil Richards (Jan 2007) SULLIVAN: I am researching the origins of
my grandfather Luke SULLIVAN. Luke was born in NY in 1884, rode
an orphan train to WI, most likely, and ended up in the household
of Patrick SULLIVAN in Chickasaw County, Iowa according to the 1895
state and 1900 federal census. Patrick was the son of John and Ann
SULLIVAN of Highland, WI. Luke's 1906 marriage certificate lists
his parents as John and Ann SULLIVAN, which leads me to believe
that he was placed with John and Ann sometime prior to 1895 and
accompanied Patrick's family when they moved to Iowa. WILLARD: I'm trying to find information about my biological father, Carl WILLARD, who is almost certainly deceased, whom I never met and who traveled through and lived briefly in Iowa County between 1954 and 1955 on his way from Philadelphia to Los Angeles. Carl was an accountant or auditor working at the Scott/Brill Co in Philadelphia when he met my mother in 1953. He was a short man (5'2") with black curly hair and brown complexion, and, as the stories go, was either from Guatemala or Puerto Rico (!). He moved the following year to Wisconsin where he lived briefly before relocating to L.A. Carla Willard (Jun 2007)
